July 16, Thursday

This am Rick and I drove to Les Mosses (a town close by) to check out what was going on with the Tour de France leg that was coming through on Sunday. Rick would really like to see the race and has been following the Tour these last couple of weeks. The race will go right by the neighbouring village and so it will be a good opportunity to see it. The issues at hand are do we go very early on Sun (around 9 AM) to Les Mosses, wait around there to see the hour of race (probably around 2PM) and then come home (hopefully by 6PM) or do we just hike down the hill here and try to find a good spot closer? The good thing about going to Les Mosses is that at that point the cyclists are coming up the hill and we could get a really good look at them. After Les Mosses it is down hill and they will just be zooming by. So that is our quandary. We’ll keep you posted!

After lunch we decided to join the Trekking group again and take the same hike as we did on Tuesday. (We had dessert again…. What can I say?) Lots of work, but it seemed easier the second time round!

On Tuesday we had explored the idea of renting the hayloft of the barn where we had dessert. It is literally a hayloft to rent for 8 swiss francs/person for a night!! Take a look at the pictures! Below the loft is a working barn with cows…We decided that we didn’t need to experience that much Swiss culture while we were here.

We are looking forward to a busy weekend- Friday evening is the banquet, Saturday we are going to Aosta, Italy for the day; leaving around 6AM, coming home for supper and then Sunday, relax or see the Tour de France. I doubt we’ll be ready with posts every day, but on Monday we’ll do our best to get you up to speed!
(Maybe if you watch the Tour de France coverage on OLN you’ll see one of us! We’ll try to break out our Canadian T’s for the occasion.)
