The weather was quite unpredictable today. It showered, it seemed at random times, since the sky still appears quite clear. Then the fog/clouds started to roll in! The fog creeps up the mountainside until it sneaks high enough to get into our windows. Complete whiteout!
After lunch the students had “family” time. Each student is assigned to a family with a “mother” and “father” from the staff. These groups get together on a weekly basis and hang out. They all seem to be planning some sort of outing for when our Canadian students are here, so we’ll keep our ears to the ground as to what they all will be doing.
From 3pm to 5pm today there was running club. No Canadian kids are in the club, but Rick decided to join. Their goal this month is to run the Aigle to Ai run on Aug 1- it is just a little jaunt up and down the mountain, about 21 km’s – no sweat!! Today’s training was uphill. Rick hasn’t decided whether he’ll do the “fun run” but he’s into the training for now. The staff that have done the run say that it is really tough, but that it isn’t all about running the trail as in places it is nigh unto impossible to do that with the elevation. Top time is 2 hours and most do it between 3 and 4.
