Aug. 6, Thursday

Headed into Geneva for the day. Stopped along the way at IKEA to have a look around and get some lunch. Went to CERN first and saw the display Microcosm. (great big sciencey place that Rick could talk about if you wanted to know about it!)

Drove into the city centre and found some parking by the United Nations plaza. This large display of the chair with the missing leg is in response to the problem of landmines.

Saw the Red Cross museum (some students visited this museum on Friday). Some of the displays were thought provoking and emotional- this group of statues is in the entrance of the museum and they are life size.

We then found a grassy beach and relaxed for a few hours. Picked up a friend, Neil, from the airport, after finding a large shopping mall and eating some McD's supper. Back home late.
